Abstract

A method of video macro block pattern encoding, the coded block pattern (CBP) comprises 6 digits of nonnegative integers, the two high digits corresponding to the luminance, and the four low digits corresponding to the chrome. The character is that dividing the video image into plural blocks and determining the transforming mode from CBP to code number. The transforming mode includes the corresponding relation among the code numbers, intra code mode and inter code mode. According to that relation, the coded block pattern (CBP) is performed. This invention maps the video block pattern encoding CBP into Codenum depending on the universal variable length code (UVLC). Since the conclusion is drawn on the characters of some typical video sequences of the CBP, fit can represent a good statistic characters and have a nice encoding quality.
