Embodiment Construction

[0010] In the drawings, the cylindrical container of the storage tank is indicated by reference numeral 1 and the lid by reference numeral 2 . The hinge structure by which the lid is mounted to the container is indicated by reference numeral 3 and the locking mechanism by which it is mounted to the container is referenced by reference numeral 4 . When the lid is in the closed position, said locking mechanism interacts in a known manner with a flange 5 of the lid, which has an upwardly bent end.

[0011] The hinge structure comprises two protruding flanges 6 spaced apart from each other. Each flange 6 forms an end portion of a metal strip 7 fitted around the cylindrical container 1 at approximately 170°. The other ends of the two metal strips 7 similarly form a protruding flange 8 which forms part of said locking mechanism. A hinge pin 9 with a widened end passes through the flange 8 . Furthermore, a support 10 is fitted around the flange 6 . The hinge pin 9 and the support...

Abstract

A storage can consists of a container (1) and a lid (2) that fits on the top of the container and is attached to the container by means of a hinge construction (3). To prevent undesired continuation of hinging of the lid (2) when in the open position and undesired dropping back of the lid (2) into the closed position, the base of the brace (10) is provided with a stop element (20) and the top face (18) of the brace (10) has a cut-out which is delimited on at least one side by a lobe (19) that on opening the lid (2) to the maximum open position and on closing the lid (2) into the closed position comes into contact with the resilient wire piece (11) of the lid (2), it is possible for said wire piece (11) to be pushed away, overcoming resilience, in order to allow the lid (2) to pass.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a storage tank consisting of a container and a cover fitted on top of the container and mounted on the container by means of a hinge structure comprising, on the one hand, two protruding flanges each provided with a hole, the hinge structure on the other hand comprising a wire piece mounted to the cover and made of a resilient material, the bent end of said wire piece protruding into the hole of the flange , and a support fits around the flange. Background technique [0002] Storage tanks of this type are well known in practice. With this construction, the hinge structure is arranged so that in the open position the lid is turned completely backwards almost parallel to the longitudinal axis of the can. The lid is in the closed position by articulating back 270° from the fully open position, the lid is automatically brought into the closed position at the final part of the path. A long articulation is disadvantageous, moreove...
