Abstract

The artificial intervertebral disc, especially suitable for the cervical spine, is composed of a first cover plate (1) connected with the first vertebral body, a second cover plate (2) connected with the second vertebral body and an artificial nucleus pulposus (10) , which forms a joint with the second cover plate (2). The artificial nucleus pulposus (10) is held in the base (9, 5) of the first cover plate (1), the base forming a rail arrangement (7, 11, 12). The artificial nucleus pulposus (10) is pushed inward from the ventral side relative to the first cover plate (1). There is a baffle (14) at the ventral end of the first cover.
