Embodiment Construction

[0052] FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of an embodiment of a system according to the invention. The system comprises a main receiver MR and a secondary receiver AR.

[0053] The main receiver MR comprises a tuner TU, a controller CO, a modulator MOD, a demodulator DEM and a pilot circuit DIR.

[0054] The tuner TU has an input TUI at which the broadcast high-frequency input signal HFIS is received, and the tuner TU also has a tuner output TUO at which the low-frequency tuner output signal TOS is given . Generally speaking, the high frequency input signal HFIS is provided by the input coaxial cable COI (in the attached Figure 6 shown in ) supplied. Generally, the tuner output signal TOS is a baseband audio and / or video signal, which baseband signal may be encoded or may also be a composite signal such as a CVBS signal.

[0055] The demodulator DEM receives said tuning signal TOS and gives a demodulated and / or decoded signal DMS suitable for display on the display screen of th...

Abstract

The in-home system comprises a complex main receiver (MR) and at least one standard receiver (AR). The main receiver (MR) receives the broadcast signals (HFIS) from the provider(s) and demodulates and / or decodes and / or descrambles (DEM) the broadcast signals (HFIS). A modulator (MOD) re-modulates the demodulated and / or decoded broadcast signals (MIS) onto a high-frequency carrier and provides this modulated signal (HFOS) to the standard receiver (AR). The demodulating, decoding, and / or descrambling (DEM) needs to be performed by the main receiver (MR) only, and is distributed via a high-frequency link to the standard receiver (AR) in the home environment. The main receiver (MR) comprises at least one tuner (TUi) with a tuner input (TUIi) for receiving the high-frequency input signal (HFIS) and a tuner output (TUOi) for supplying a tuner output signal (TOSi). A test signal generator (TSG) of the main receiver (MR) supplies a test signal (TSi) to the modulator (MODi) to obtain the high-frequency output signal (HFOSi). A directing circuit (DIR) directs the high-frequency output signal (HFOSi) to the tuner input (TUIi), and a test evaluator (TE) evaluates whether the tuner output signal (TUOi) is in conformance with the test signal (TSi). In this way, the performance of the system is checked.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a home interior receiver system, a master receiver for use in such a home interior receiver system and a method of testing such a home interior receiver system. Background technique [0002] In existing audio and / or video receiver configurations, it becomes increasingly important to be able to receive for a variety of different broadcast systems. In addition to terrestrial or satellite analog television signals sent over space or provided on cable, digital broadcasting is becoming more and more popular. Furthermore, data exchange between providers and receiver users is becoming more and more important. [0003] Typically, existing systems are upgraded by adding a separate set-top box to the television receiver to receive these new broadcasts. Moreover, television receivers integrating set-top box functions have begun to appear on the market. Hereinafter, a receiver will generally refer to a set-top box receiver, a te...
