Embodiment Construction

[0064] figure 1 The second step of the transformation method in is to obtain a computer representation, eg a voxel representation of an N-dimensional object. It is likely that segmentation step 3 is performed before the acquisition step, where objects are segmented from a video cube. Segmentation is to assign only one object to each pixel in the video cube. Algorithms for segmenting a 3D video cube can be derived in a straightforward manner from 2D image patches as described in the literature. One possible algorithm is to assign eg a cube of 8x8x8 voxels to an identical tile when the criteria indicate that they are of the same kind with respect to the selected features. An example of a feature is the gray value associated with a voxel. A standard example is the histogram absolute difference G related to the two cubes of a voxel:

[0065] G = Σ i = 1 M ...

Abstract

Method of transforming a voxel representation of an N-dimensional object into a computer model containing a cellular space, which is a specific form of graph. An indicator attached to each edge of the cellular space indicates whether a border belongs to an object. This is useful for three-dimensional compression of video sequences and for Internet video sequence search.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method of converting a computer representation of an N-dimensional first object into a computer model of the first object. [0002] The invention also relates to compression methods for converting a computer representation of an N-dimensional object into a compressed model of the object. [0003] The invention also relates to a method of decompressing a compressed video signal into a computer representation of an N-dimensional object. [0004] The invention also relates to a method of converting a first unit space model having a first plurality of units into a second unit space model having a second plurality of units. [0005] The invention also relates to a computer program for carrying out the method of converting an N-dimensional computer representation of a first object into a computer model of the first object. [0006] The invention also relates to a computer program for implementing a compression method for converting...
