578 results about "Absolute difference" patented technology

The absolute difference of two real numbers x, y is given by |x − y|, the absolute value of their difference. It describes the distance on the real line between the points corresponding to x and y. It is a special case of the Lᵖ distance for all 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞ and is the standard metric used for both the set of rational numbers Q and their completion, the set of real numbers R.

Arc fault detector with circuit interrupter

There is here disclosed a method and apparatus for detecting the occurrence of arcing of a conductor by monitoring the current on an AC power line. The signal detected is split and directed along four separate paths to generate four signals having separate characteristics which represent the current in the line. A first path is for a signal representative of the current flowing in the line. A second path is for a signal having a pulse for each occurrence of a positive step change in current that is significant and has a di / dt value above a predetermined value. A third path is for a signal having a pulse for each occurrence of a negative step change in current that is significant and has a di / dt value above a predetermined value. A fourth path is for a signal having a voltage level representative of the broadband noise signal on the line. Using at least one of five different methods in combination with one of three input signals, a reference signal designated as "SINE" is generated. The SINE signal generated in combination with a CURRENT input is used to produce a control waveform "DELTA". DELTA can be represented as a relative value or as an absolute difference between the SINE and the CURRENT. Each occurring half cycle of the DELTA signal is analyzed by, for example, a micro-controller for specific identifiable characteristics found to indicate the presence of arcing. Upon the detection of arcing, an output signal can be generated to activate a circuit interrupting mechanism, sound an audio alarm and / or alert a central monitoring station.

Method for motion estimated and compensated field rate up-conversion (FRU) for video applications and device for actuating such method

A method and a device for motion estimated and compensated Field Rate Up-conversion (FRU) for video applications is disclosed and claimed. The invention provides for dividing an image field to be interpolated into a plurality of image blocks, where each image block includes a respective set of image elements of the image field. In one embodiment, for each image block of a subset of image blocks, a group of neighboring image blocks is selected. A motion vector for the image block is estimated that describes the movement of the image block from a previous image field to a current image field on the basis of predictor motion vectors associated to the group of neighboring image blocks. Each image element of the image block is determined by interpolation of two corresponding image elements in the previous and current image fields related by the estimated motion vector. To estimate a motion vector, the invention provides for applying each of the predictor motion vectors to the image block to determine a respective pair of corresponding image blocks in the previous and current image fields. For each of the pairs of corresponding image blocks, an error function which is the Sum of luminance Absolute Difference (SAD) between corresponding image elements in the pair of corresponding image blocks is evaluated. For each pair of the predictor motion vectors, a degree of homogeneity is also evaluated, followed by the application of a fuzzy rule having an activation level that is proportional to the degree of homogeneity of the pair of predictor motion vectors and the error functions of the pair of predictor motion vectors. An optimum fuzzy rule having the highest activation level is selected, from which the best predictor motion vector is determined, having the smaller error function of the pair associated to the optimum fuzzy rule. In most cases, the motion vector for the image block is estimated on the basis of the best predictor motion vector.

Method and apparatus for fast mode selecting of H264 video coding

The invention discloses a quick mode selection method and a device of an H264 video coding. The method comprises the selection of a mode in frames and the selection of the mode between the frames, wherein, for the selection of the mode in the frames, a prediction method with different fineness is chosen according to the dramatic degree of the image information changes in the prior macro block, thereby decreasing the number of the model to be chosen and confirming the final selection mode through the method of code rate-distortion factor optimizing; for the selection of the mode between the frames, the sum of the absolute difference of the corresponding pixel point of the corresponding macro block of the prior frame and the reference frame is used as a dividing basis to divide the macro block into different fineness and to correspondingly choose a prediction method with different fineness for decreasing the number of the model to be chosen and confirming the final selection mode through the method of code rate-distortion factor optimizing. The invention can decrease the number of the model to be chosen and solve the application limited problems caused by over-complicated code, over-loaded operation and over time consumption in the prior art.

Provided are a bS derivation process and a deblocking filtering method and apparatus using illumination compensation and / or chrominance compensation, such as a multi-view video coding, in a picture coding / decoding process in which a prediction coding is performed. If neither of the two blocks are intra-coded, neither of the two blocks do contain a none-zero transformed coefficient, and motion compensation for the two blocks is performed based on the identical reference frame and the absolute difference between the horizontal or vertical components of the two motion vectors of the two blocks is less than 1, the bS of the two blocks is derived by considering whether the two blocks are coded by illumination compensation (IC) according to an embodiment of the present invention. Specifically, if both of the two blocks are coded by IC mode or neither of the two blocks are coded by IC mode, bS is set as such a value that filtering is unnecessary. On the other hand, if both of the two blocks are coded by IC mode and the blocks have different illumination change values, or only one of the blocks is coded by IC mode, the bS is derived using difference of illumination change values or the illumination change value.

Positioning method based on wireless radio frequency recognition technology

A positioning method which is based on the wireless radio frequency identification technology comprises the steps that readers are arranged at the boundary of a zone to be monitored; reference tags are fixed at an indoor zone to be monitored in a rectangular grid type; when an object to be monitored with radio-frequency tags is arranged in the zone to be monitored, each of the readers detects the electromagnetic wave of each radio-frequency tag through the antenna of each of the readers, the radio-frequency signal intensity values of the reference tags which are obtained by the measurement and the tags of the object to be tested are sent to an upper computer; the upper computer compares the absolute difference values of the radio-frequency signal intensity of each of the reference tags and the tags of the object to be tested to determine a plurality of nearest reference tags of the object to be tested; each nearest reference tag and the calculated position of the object to be tested are obtained through the trilateration method, and the average measurement error of a system is obtained by comparing the calculated positions and the actual positions of the nearest reference tags; the calculated positions of the object to be tested adds the average measurement error to obtain the position coordinates of the object to be tested. By utilizing the method of the invention, a positioning system has good accuracy and real-time in the aspect of position induction.
