Problems solved by technology

[0007] However, in the method disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2001-273893, since the treatment at a temperature of 150 to 250° C. is required for two hours or more, heat treatment needs to be performed for a long time, and before the battery using the zinc alloy powder is discharged, Sometimes not enough to reduce the hydrogen generation volume

Embodiment 1-7

[0036] First, the metals Al, Bi, and In are mixed and melted with Zn to obtain a molten zinc alloy, which is sprayed into the air and pulverized by a gas pulverization method. Then, sieve with a sieve to obtain zinc alloy powder with a particle size of about 35 to 200 mesh. The composition of each zinc alloy powder obtained above was analyzed by atomic absorption method. The results are shown in Table 1.

Embodiment 8-14

[0043] For having the zinc alloy powder of composition as shown in table 1, make with the method identical with embodiment 1-7, then carry out heat treatment with the method identical with embodiment 1-7, difference is: heat treatment temperature is 400 ℃ . For the zinc alloy powder obtained through the above heat treatment, bulk density, initial gas volume, and gas volume after overdischarge were measured in the same manner as in Examples 1-7 (only the bulk density of Examples 10-14 was measured). These data results are presented in Table 2 and Figure 1-3 shown in .

Embodiment 15-19, and comparative example 14-17

[0052] As shown in Table 3, zinc alloy powder containing 30 ppm of Al, 90 ppm of Bi, and 500 ppm of In was prepared and subjected to heat treatment (no heat treatment step in Comparative Example 9). For the above heat-treated zinc alloy powder, the same method as in Examples 1-7 was used to measure the initial gas (gas volume before discharge) volume. Measurement results are given in Table 3 and Image 6 shown in . From Table 3 and Image 6 It can be seen that when heat treatment is performed at a heat treatment temperature of 300-400° C. according to Examples 15 to 19, the volume of the initial gas can be greatly reduced.

Abstract

There are provided a zinc alloy powder for an alkaline cell, which is capable of decreasing the volume of hydrogen gas generated before and after the discharge of the cell to prevent an electrolyte in the cell from leaking, and a method for producing such a zinc alloy powder by heat-treating the powder in a short time. A zinc alloy powder consisting essentially of 0.0001 to 0.500 wt % of at leastone element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, indium, gallium, thallium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, cadmium, tin and lead, 0.001 to 0.050 wt % of bismuth, and the balance being zincand unavoidable impurities, is heat-treated at a higher temperature than 250 DEG C. in an inert gas or reducing gas atmosphere.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention mainly relates to zinc alloy powder for use in alkaline batteries, and a method of manufacturing the powder. More specifically, the present invention relates to a zinc alloy powder used as an anode active material of a battery such as an alkaline battery, and a method for producing the powder. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, zinc powder, which has a high hydrogen overvoltage and is relatively cheap, is used as the active material of the negative electrode in batteries such as alkaline batteries. However, if zinc is used alone as the active material of the negative electrode of the battery, there is a problem that a large amount of hydrogen gas is generated during battery use, thus electrolyte leakage occurs. [0003] In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, zinc, which is the active material of the battery negative electrode, has been amalgamated with mercury (mercury has a high hydrogen overvoltage) for a lo...
