Abstract

A power drive for a vehicle latch assembly including: a drive chassis, and an electric motor. The motor has a drive shaft on which is mounted a gear, the motor further including engagement means for locating the motor on the chassis. The chassis includes a mount plate having a slot for receiving the drive shaft during assembly of the power drive. The shaft is permitted to slide down a first portion of the slot, thereby allowing the engagement means to be received by a second portion of the slot so as to radially locate the motor on the mount plate.

Background technique [0002] It is common to provide automotive door latches with power actuated functions such as power lock / unlock, power close or power release. These power functions are becoming increasingly important due to the reliance on electrical controls in modern vehicles and the increased door sealing loads required to insulate the vehicle cabin from wind and tire noise.
