Benefits of technology

The invention is about a new mixture of gases and oils that can help protect the oils from oxidation and deterioration. This mixture contains a certain gas called r-134a, which is mixed with organic oil(s). The r-134a gas is complexed with the oil(s) through Van der Waals forces, which can help to stabilize the oil and prevent it from breaking down. The invention can be useful in a variety of applications where oils need to be protected from oxidation.

Problems solved by technology

However, Van Horn and Bale do not appear to teach the use of a catalyst in providing activated oil blends having fatty acids prepped to complex with a polar heat transfer fluid molecule.
Moreover, Van Horn and Bale each fail to address the global warming concerns associated with refrigerant compositions.
Currently, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) and refrigeration accounts for much of the worldwide energy consumption.
Unfortunately, it has yet to be appreciated that certain complexes can be used as a refrigerant to increase energy efficiency or decrease leak rates, or that catalysts can be used to prepare such complexes.

Embodiment Construction

[0041]The following discussion provides many example embodiments of the inventive subject matter. Although each embodiment represents a single combination of inventive elements, the inventive subject matter is considered to include all possible combinations of the disclosed elements. Thus if one embodiment comprises elements A, B, and C, and a second embodiment comprises elements B and D, then the inventive subject matter is also considered to include other remaining combinations of A, B, C, or D, even if not explicitly disclosed.

[0042]It should be noted that while the below description sometimes focuses on a B1™ oil blend, and Bluon™ TdX™ (B1 oil blend injected into a large quantity of r-134a), the inventive subject matter should be interpreted to include other combinations of halo-alkene complexes comprising a heat transfer fluid and a fatty acid. The inventive subject matter should also be interpreted to also include an activated oil blend that can be used with various other flui...

Abstract

Compositions including an activated oil blend are provided. An oil blend can comprise one or more oils having a long chain fatty acid, preferably an oleic acid or linoleic acid. An oil blend of the inventive subject matter can be activated in an open or closed vessel comprising a catalyst. Some preferred catalysts include copper, a polyamide such as Nylon, and stainless steel. The activated oil blend can be combined with, among other things, a fluid having molecules of sufficient polarity to complex with a fatty acid molecule of the activated oil blend.
