Benefits of technology

The invention is a sock made of elastic material that is used to cover a ballet shoe. The sock has a medial enhanced compression area located on the outside of the foot, between the ankle and the heel, and a lateral enhanced compression area located on the outside of the foot, between the heel and the ball of the foot. The medial enhanced compression area is circular in shape and is approximately one inch in diameter, while the lateral enhanced compression area is rectangular in shape and is approximately one inch wide and three inches long. The technical effect of this patent is the improved comfort and support provided to the ballet dancer's foot during a performance.

Embodiment Construction

[0024]For a more complete understanding of the present invention, the objects and advantages thereof, reference is now made to the ensuing descriptions.

[0025]The present invention comprises compression socks worn over ballet shoes for enhanced ballet dance performance and recovery. The compression sock puts pressure on the lateral edges of the foot. This tightens the foot bones and creates a stronger and more stable foot. This makes the dancers work harder while going through the full foot stretches with resistance. With prolonged use, this strengthens the dancer's feet. These can be worn for ballet barre practice, but in a preferred embodiment, they are not worn during a formal performance.

[0026]In another embodiment, the invention comprises areas of enhanced compression on the sock to guide the dancer in correct foot placement and avoid sickle foot. In a preferred embodiment, one such position is on the medial portion the ankle, slightly superior to the medial portion of the arch ...

Abstract

The present invention is a compression sock for enhanced ballet performance and training. The compression sock is designed to be worn over a ballet shoe. The compression sock has two areas of extra enhanced compression, one on the medial side and one on the lateral side of the sock as worn on the foot. If worn while training, these compression areas help prevent sickling of the foot and improve ballet technique.
