6 results about "Insulation-displacement connector" patented technology

An insulation-displacement contact (IDC), also known as insulation-piercing contact (IPC), is an electrical connector designed to be connected to the conductor(s) of an insulated cable by a connection process which forces a selectively sharpened blade or blades through the insulation, bypassing the need to strip the conductors of insulation before connecting. When properly made, the connector blade cold-welds to the conductor, making a theoretically reliable gas-tight connection.

Capacitor carrier assembly with connection terminals

This invention relates to a capacitor carrier assembly with connection terminals. The capacitor carrier assembly includes a carrier, a capacitor disposed within the carrier, and conductive connection terminals. The connection terminals support the carrier relative to another electronic component or device, such as a printed circuit board, holding the various carrier portions in an assembled configuration and providing an electrical connection between the capacitor and the electronic component. Each connection terminal includes a resilient member projecting from a surface of the connection terminal and engaging with the carrier, a serrated region disposed on an opposite edge of the terminal engaging with the carrier, and a flange projecting from the surface in a direction perpendicular to a first surface. The edge of the flange includes an insulation displacement connector (IDC) header for connection to capacitor leads.

Cabling method for fault managed power systems

A power cable network architecture provides fault managed power (FMP) signals in a data center. The architecture provides patching connections between feeder lines from power pods and trunk cables within an overhead cable raceway, as well as patching connections between the trunk cables within the overhead cable raceway and drop lines to power distribution units associated with rack-mounted servers throughout the data center. Conductors within the trunk line are larger in diameter, as compared conductors within the feeder and / or drop lines. In one embodiment, the patching connections can occur at patch panels via a port and plug arrangement. In another embodiment, the patching connections can occur at fixtures with insulation displacement connectors.
