Abstract

A wireless audio source ( 102) integrated into a host bus (110) of a vehicle includes a transmitter module (100) for wirelessly transmitting signals received from a connected portable audio player (102) to a receiver module (106) connected to the host bus (110). The host bus (110) thereby enabling the audio content to be reproduced over the speakers (116 and 126). In one aspect, the user is able to control the volume and related functions of the audio content using the standard radio controls. In other aspects, a portable wireless transceiver is disclosed wherein an occupant of the vehicle can transmit and receive multimedia data to and from a wireless transceiver coupled to the host bus (110). Multimedia and other devices (130) connected to the host bus (110) can thereby send and receive signals to and from the portable wireless transceiver.
