662 results about "Vehicle bus" patented technology

A vehicle bus is a specialized internal communications network that interconnects components inside a vehicle (e.g., automobile, bus, train, industrial or agricultural vehicle, ship, or aircraft). Special requirements for vehicle control such as assurance of message delivery, of non-conflicting messages, of minimum time of delivery, of low cost, and of EMF noise resilience, as well as redundant routing and other characteristics mandate the use of less common networking protocols. Protocols include Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN) and others. Conventional computer networking technologies (such as Ethernet and TCP/IP) are rarely used, except in aircraft, where implementations of the ARINC 664 such as the Avionics Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet are used. Aircraft that use AFDX include the B787, the A400M and the A380.

Temporal anomaly detection on automotive networks

An anomaly detector for a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus performs state space classification on a per-message basis of messages on the CAN bus to label messages as normal or anomalous, and performs temporal pattern analysis as a function of time to label unexpected temporal patterns as anomalous. The anomaly detector issues an alert if an alert criterion is met that is based on the outputs of the state space classification and the temporal pattern analysis. The temporal pattern analysis may compare statistics of messages having analyzed arbitration IDs with statistics for messages having those analyzed arbitration IDs in a training dataset of CAN bus messages, and a temporal pattern is anomalous if there is a statistically significant deviation from the training dataset. The anomaly detector may be implemented on a vehicle Electronic Control Unit (ECU) communicating via a vehicle CAN bus. The anomaly detector does not rely on an database of messages and their periodicity from manufacturers (dbc files) and in that sense is truly a zero knowledge detector.

Virtual Charge for Electric Vehicles

The described method and system provides for dynamic adjustment of the lower charge threshold of an electrically-powered vehicle to allow a fuel-depleted vehicle also low on battery charge to continue to be operated. The vehicle's telematics unit monitors the fuel level and charge level via the vehicle bus or other vehicle resources to determine if the vehicle is running low on fuel and electric charge. If the telematics unit determines that the fuel is depleted and the charge level is approaching, meets or falls below the lower threshold, the telematics unit communicates the vehicle fuel status and vehicle position to a call center along with vehicle identification data. The call center determines the amount of charge required to reach one or more local fueling stations or other points of interests and propose destination recommendations to the driver. The driver may then select one of the recommendations, and the call center transmits a new lower charge threshold to the vehicle.
