Embodiment Construction

[0039] FIG. 1 depicts an endovascular graft delivery catheter 10 placed within an abdominal aortic hemangioma 11 over a guide wire 12 . figure 2 Describe the initial stages of deploying a graft within a vessel. The delivery catheter 10 has a removable cover 13 over the graft. When the cover is pulled proximally, graft 14 expands to contact the inner wall of the vessel. The graft can be conceived to be self-expanding or to use an expansion member, such as a balloon or a mechanical expansion body. The graft deployment process continues until the graft is fully deployed within the vessel. Grafts can be conceived as straight or as bifurcated shapes. image 3 shows a fully deployed straight graft 14, while Figure 4 A fully deployed bifurcated graft 15 is described. A guide wire 12 is used to deploy and position the graft, remaining within the vessel for access to the anchor attachment system. One embodiment of the graft stent 16 (Sten's stent) is Figure 4 is shown in parti...

Abstract

Devices and methods for implanting prostheses capable of radial expanding in the body lumens rely on tacking or anchoring the prostheses with separately introduced fasteners. After initial placement, a fastener applier system is introduced within the expanded prostheses to deploy a plurality of fasteners to at least one prosthesis end. The fasteners are usually helical fasteners which are releasably restrained on the fastener driver, and are delivered by rotation of the fastener driver. The fasteners may be applied singly, typically in circumferentially spaced-apart patterns about the interior of at least one end of the prosthesis. Also disclosed is an Endovascular aneurysm repair system.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of Chinese patent application 02823552.5 (corresponding to international application PCT / SU02 / 32753) filed on October 15, 2002, entitled "Intravascular Aneurysm Repair System". [0002] This application claims priority to co-pending US Provisional Application Serial No. 60 / 333,937, filed November 28,2001. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to the attachment of vascular prostheses to native blood vessels, and in particular to methods and device systems for repairing diseased and / or damaged vascular segments. technical background [0004] Weakening of blood vessel walls by injury or disease can cause blood vessels to dilate and form hemangiomas. Left untreated, the hemangioma can grow in size and will eventually rupture. [0005] For example, aortic hemangiomas primarily occur in the region of the abdominal arteries, generally in the infrarenal region between the renal arteries and the aortic fo...
