Abstract

A coating device for coating a peripheral surface of a sleeve body (13) with a coating formulation (24) is presented. The coating device comprises a vertical support column (1) for supporting a sleeve body (13) in a vertical position coaxial with a coating axis (10), a carriage (5,29) slideable along the vertical support column (1), and an annular coating stage (11) attached to the carriage (5,29) and moveable therewith for containing the coating formulation (24) and for coating a layer of the coating formulation (24) onto the peripheral surface of the sleeve body (13) during a sliding movement of the carriage (5,29) along the vertical support column (1). The coating device is characterised by having an irradiation stage (12,52), moveable with the annular coating stage (11), for providingradiation to at least partially cure the layer of coating formulation (24) onto the peripheral surface so as to prevent flow off of the coating formulation (24).
