Abstract

The present invention relates to pedicle screws with a closure device for receiving and securing a rod (4) made up of a flexible plastic, for stabilization of a vertebral column, comprising a screw-inpart (2), a head part (3) with a U-shaped recess (5) formed by two arms (6) and (7) into which the rod (4) to be held is insertable. The U-shaped recess (5) is closable by means of a locking element(15). A clamping screw (16), put into the locking element, presses an insert (9) on the rod and clamps the latter between a first clamping surface (17) and a second clamping surface (18). The insert (9) is provided with stop faces (11, 12) b y means of which the clamping action against the rod (4), transmitted to the insert (9) by the clamping screw (16) during the clamping step, is limited. An optimal connection between rod and pedicle screw is thereby obtained.
