Embodiment Construction

[0024] In general, the present invention provides an apparatus and method for identifying the moving direction and position state of an object by using RFID equipment. The device and method are invented for: real-time people tracking near the entrance of a specific monitored room and also for improving the management of a certain event such as a seminar, a presentation or the like.

[0025] As described in the section entitled "Background Art," prior art tracking using RFID devices typically uses an RFID gateway (see figure 1 ), and this existing approach is not as well suited for people tracking as item / object tracking in asset management applications. Therefore, in order to improve the accuracy of personnel tracking records, the focus of the present invention is to improve the setting of RFID gateways with RFID devices (including RFID readers and antennas).

Abstract

An apparatus for identifying object movement and location with RFID device comprises two RFID gateways constructed by at least one RFID interrogator located inside and outside an entrance of a monitored zone independently, a portable RFID tag carried by the object capable of receiving and responding said signals emitted by said RFID interrogator, and a data processor connected with said RFID gateways capable of receiving said responses to identify said object movement as leaving or entering said entrance and said object location as outside or inside said monitored zone. There is also a corresponding method for identifying object movement and location with RFID device.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the field of RFID (radio frequency identification), in particular to object tracking technology utilizing RFID equipment. More particularly, the present invention relates to an apparatus and method for identifying motion and location of objects using RFID devices. Background technique [0002] Currently, barcodes can be used to track participants as they enter the area via an entrance to the area, but barcodes cannot be used to keep track of where participants go. However, RFID devices can be used to keep track of objects and goods while they are within the RFID coverage area. Successful object tracking depends primarily on the accuracy of the captured object location data, whereby RFID device deployment depends on the accuracy of the captured data for object tracking, whether active or passive RFID technology is used. play an important role. [0003] Existing technologies using passive RFID for object tracking mainly use an...
