Embodiment Construction

[0028] The present invention provides a vibroacoustic plumbing fixture or system 12 that is capable of simultaneously generating and acting on a bather 11 a controlled auditory and vibratory experience.

[0029] The auditory experience mainly brings auditory stimulation to the bather 11, which is generated by the housing 14 driven in response to an acoustic signal including wave characteristics in a traditional musical framework. The musical architecture includes typical musical elements such as a tone centered on a specific key and harmonies associated with the key. The auditory experience preferably includes an acoustic melody of the auditory focus heard by the bather 11 . The auditory sensation is preferably transmitted to the bather 11 through a gaseous medium, such as air, and substantially achieves auditory stimulation.

[0030] The vibratory sensation primarily provides the bather 11 with a generally tactile stimulus, also produced by the housing 14 being driven in res...

Abstract

A vibroacoustic system includes a shell having a plurality of transducers mounted in an energy transmitting relation thereto. The transducers receive input signals having distinct wave characteristics and drive the shell to simultaneously produce both a vibratory experience effected by a tactile stimulus and an auditory experience effected by an aural stimulus.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Application 61 / 041,157, filed March 31, 2008. [0003] Federally funded research or development [0004] Not applicable. Background technique [0005] The present invention relates to bathroom fixtures. More specifically, it relates to vibroacoustic plumbing fixtures having housings that are driven to produce different controlled audible and vibratory sensations. [0006] It is generally known to use bathtub housings (eg, bathtubs) as sound speakers to reproduce music. US Patent No. 6,523,191 discloses an acoustically active hot tub having a plurality of transducers secured to a mass embedded in the hot tub housing. The audio transducer converts the electrical signal from the music source into vibrations, which are transmitted to the housing of the hot tub causing the housing to vibrate. The hot tub housing vibrates in a frequency range suitable for transmitting aud...
