Abstract

The embodiments of the present invention disclose a method for setting up a first LSP, comprising: receiving by a node a first message from an upstream node, the first message including identification information of a second LSP and the first message requesting for setting up the first LSP, the first LSP and the second LSP sharing a label; when the node is a sink node, assigning, in the upstream link of the node, a first label to the first LSP if the second LSP has the first label in an upstream link of the node, and assigning, in the upstream link of the node, a second label to the first LSP if the second LSP has no labels in the upstream link of the node; sending a second message to the upstream node, the second message carrying the label which is assigned to the first LSP in the upstream link of the node. If the second LSP has a label in the upstream link of the node, the same label is assigned to the first LSP in the upstream link of the node, thereby reducing the operations to a label forwarding table, avoiding a waste of bandwidth, and saving cost.
