no. 1 Embodiment approach

[0036] figure 1 It is an explanatory diagram showing the network system 1000 according to the first embodiment of the present invention. This network system 1000 includes: a relay device 100, an internal network 800 connected to the first port P1 of the relay device 100, an authentication server 802 connected to the internal network 800, and an external network connected to the second port P2 of the relay device 100. The network 900 and the stations 702 and 704 connected to the relay device 100 by wireless communication. The relay device 100 and the stations 702 and 704 are respectively IEEE802.11 standard wireless LAN communication devices.

[0037] In this embodiment, the internal network 800 is a network configured with a limited area (such as an intranet), and the external network 900 is an external network configured without a limited area (such as the Internet). In this embodiment, the internal network 800 is also connected to the external network 900 .

[0082] Figure 7 It is an explanatory diagram showing the network system 1002 of the second embodiment. This network system 1002 includes an internal network 800 , two relay devices 102A and 102B connected to the internal network 800 by wired communication, and stations 702 and 704 connected to the relay device 102A by wireless communication. Figure 7 Only a part of the structure of the relay apparatus 102A, 102B is shown in .

[0083] In this embodiment, the first relay device 102A and the second relay device 102B can communicate through wireless communication. Specifically, in this embodiment, the wireless communication between the relay devices 102A and 102B is performed by using a data frame based on a so-called Wireless Distribution System (WDS, hereinafter also referred to as "WDS"). Communication using data frames of WDS will also be referred to as "WDS communication" below. In addition, below, the network which performs WDS communication between the relay apparatus...

Abstract

A relay device performing wireless communication with a wireless communication device to relay communication between the wireless communication device and another communication device. First and second relay modes of the relay device each include a set of communication parameters for relaying communication via respective first and second communication paths. The relay device includes a communication failure determination section for determining, whether there is a communication failure in the first communication path, and a relay mode controlling section for enabling the first relay mode and disenabling the second relay mode when there is no communication failure in the first communication path, and disenabling the first relay mode and enabling the second relay mode when there is a communication failure in the first communication path. A communication control section controls communication based on either the first relay mode or the second relay mode that is enabled by the relay mode controlling section.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a communication relay device and a communication relay method. Background technique [0002] The access point of wireless LAN used in the enterprise is required to provide a function that allows the stations connected to the access point to continue to access the enterprise internal network even if the network communication path is blocked or the authentication server fails. As one example of this function, there is a function also called link integrity (Link Integrity) disclosed in JP Patent No. 4053308 . This function is to stop the communication function of a certain access point when it is determined that a specific communication path appears to be blocked from the point of view of the access point. As a result, the station connected to the access point tries to connect to another access point (secondary access point) to continue communication. [0003] However, when the station cannot find the second access point even wi...
