Test method for rodent predation

An experimental method and rodent technology, applied in the field of experimental zoology, can solve the problems of short observation time, test time not in line with the predatory habits of rodents, and inability to objectively reflect animal predatory behavior, and achieve long test time, The effect of clear judgment criteria and simple operation

Problems solved by technology

In the past, the method used to observe the predatory behavior of animals was to make the animal find out food from a hole or take out food from a cylinder. The observation was usually carried out during the day and the time was very short. These observation methods could not objectively reflect the predatory behavior of animals. It cannot simulate the predatory

Embodiment Construction

[0014] A non-limiting example of rodent predation according to the present invention is given below.

[0015] The purpose of the present invention is achieved in that these three methods are respectively: competitive predatory behavior, non-competitive predatory behavior, and non-obstacle predatory behavior. The animal's predation behavior is filmed by a digital camera throughout. This method can measure the animal's advanced cognitive function (decision-making and future planning) without human intervention.

[0016] The described competitive predatory behavior is about fasting (without water) for 12 hours before the rats to be tested are observed for competitive predatory behavior, and the rats are put into the open field at 5 pm on the day of observation, and the length × width × height is 150cm ×150cm×50cm, the open field is made of wooden structure, the bottom and the four walls are black, there is a small dye vat filled with water in the corner of the bottom of the open ...

Abstract

The invention discloses a test method for a rodent predation behavior. The test method comprises the following steps: fasting an animal to be tested for 12 hours but not depriving water; at 5 in the afternoon, placing the animal to be tested in an open field to adapt for 2 hours; at 7 in the afternoon, putting 250g of food which is equivalent to the weight of the animal in the open field; and then through three different predation behaviors namely competitive predation behavior, non-competitive predation behavior and non-obstacle predation behavior, observing the predation condition of the animal, and analyzing three different predation behaviors and predation amounts, wherein the whole predation course is shot by a digital video. The method can be used for determining the advanced cognitive function of the animal in no need of manual intervention, and the judgment is standard and explicit; the animal behavior is influenced by environmental factors and manual training factors, thus the method has operability and practicability. By using the method, the drain regions, playing a role in the predation behavior, of the animal can also be studied, and the influence of a medicament on the predation behavior is further studied.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the field of experimental zoology, and in particular relates to an experimental method for the predatory behavior of rodents. Background technique [0002] Predation is a ubiquitous phenomenon in nature, and the predation of food can best reflect the advanced cognitive functions of animals such as competitive state, long-term planning and decision-making. In the past, the method used to observe the predatory behavior of animals was to make the animal find out food from a hole or take out food from a cylinder. The observation was usually carried out during the day and the time was very short. These observation methods could not objectively reflect the predatory behavior of animals. It cannot simulate the predatory behavior of animals in the natural state very well, and has certain limitations such as: (1) the test time does not conform to the predatory habits of rodents (usually at night); (2) the observation The time is relati...
