Embodiment Construction

[0022] The device is generally indicated at 10 . The device has a femtosecond (fs) laser 12 emitting a pulsed laser beam 14 with a pulse width on the order of femtoseconds. The laser beam 14 is used to treat a human eye 16 , here for example a cornea 18 . Specifically, it is used to create an incision in the cornea 18 due to photodissociation of the cohesive inner cornea by the effect of laser-induced optical breakdown in beam focusing.

[0023] In the beam path of the laser beam 14 a plurality of optical components for guiding and shaping the laser beam 14 are arranged. In particular, these components include a focusing objective 20 (such as an F-theta objective) and a scanner 22 placed upstream of the objective 20, by means of which the laser beam 14 emitted by the laser 12 can be adjusted according to the treatment determined for the eye 16. The profile is deflected in a plane (x-y plane) perpendicular to the beam path of the laser beam. The drawn coordinate system illus...

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for ophthalmological laser surgery, comprising a contact surface (42) for placing in a shaping manner against an eye to be treated, a first radiation source (12) for providing a treatment laser beam (14), optical components (20, 22, 28, 60) for directing the treatment laser beam through the contact surface onto the eye (16), and a measuring device (50) for measuring the anterior chamber depth of the eye lying against the contact surface, wherein the measuring device provides measurement data that are representative of the anterior chamber depth of the eye at at least one point thereof. The device allows the anterior chamber depth to be monitored in order to detect if the anterior chamber depth falls below a predefined limit and can thus avoid a dangerous approach of the rear surface of the cornea toward the front surface of the lens when the eye is pressed against the contact surface.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to equipment for ophthalmic laser surgery. Background technique [0002] Pulsed laser radiation is used in many techniques for the treatment of the human eye. In some of these techniques, the eye to be treated is brought into contact with a transparent contact element which, with its contact surface facing the eye, forms a reference surface for precise positioning of the beam focus in the eye in the z-direction. In this regard, the "z-direction" refers to the direction of propagation of the laser beam, following the customary notation in the professional field. On the other hand, the plane perpendicular to this direction is often referred to as the x-y plane. In particular, the treatment by means of focused femtosecond laser radiation for the generation of incisions in eye tissue (the generation of incisions in the human eye by means of pulsed femtosecond laser radiation is generally based on the effect of so-called lase...
