The giant-scale porphyrin microcapsule prepared by the method of the embodiment is used for detection of heavy metal ions in a solution. The preparation method provided by the invention is simple, and the giant-scale porphyrin microcapsule obtained by the preparation method has high sensitivity to heavy metal ions.
