A PM detecting instrument adopting the method comprises a processor, a gas PM collection unit, a detection result output unit, a detection result storage device and a human-machine interaction unit, wherein the processor is used for controlling the gas PM collection unit to work; a detection signal of the gas PM collection unit is output to the processor; the processor outputs a detection result through the detection result output unit; and the human-machine interaction unit and the detection result storage device are connected with the processor.
