Embodiment Construction

[0018] Embodiments will now be described with reference to the drawings, wherein like numerals represent like elements. specifically, figure 1 and the accompanying discussion are intended to provide a brief, general description of suitable computing environments in which various embodiments may be implemented.

[0019] Generally, program modules include routines, programs, components, data structures, and other types of structures that perform particular tasks or implement particular abstract data types. Other computer system configurations may also be used, including handheld devices, multiprocessor systems, microprocessor-based or programmable consumer electronics, minicomputers, mainframe computers, and the like. Distributed computing environments can also be used where tasks are performed by remote processing devices that are linked through a communications network. In a distributed computing environment, program modules may be located in both local and remote memory sto...

Abstract

A spreadsheet includes a native spreadsheet object that represents a person. The person object may be used within a spreadsheet just as any other spreadsheet objects are utilized. For example, the person object may be integrated with spreadsheet formulas and other spreadsheet objects such as charts, tables, pivot tables, sheets, and the like. Spreadsheet formulas may perform operations specific to a person object (e.g. send message, get contact information, get status, get other person specific information, sort, and the like). Common actions may be associated with the person object, such as initiating communication with the person represented by the person object (e.g. phone call, email, text message, collaboration invite, and the like). Social networking information may also be associated with a person object. For example, social networking posts may be included within a spreadsheet, a user may post to a social network from the spreadsheet, and the like.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of computers, in particular to electronic forms. Background technique [0002] Many people utilize spreadsheets to interact with data. Many of these uses are human-centric. For example, users can use spreadsheets to generate reports, track the status of different work items assigned to others, interact with charts and tables, collaborate with other users, and more. Linking these tasks to users can be cumbersome. For example, a user may need to use a different program to email the user a task within the program for which they are responsible, or to look up more detailed user information from one or more other programs. Contents of the invention [0003] This Summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form that are further described below in the Detailed Description. This Summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor ...
