[0068] One example of the invention provides a delivery system for delivering a prosthesis 202 to a location in the body. The delivery system includes a slide shaft with a threaded outer surface. The slide shaft includes a hollow tubular member with a first longitudinal slot. The slide shaft has a proximal end and a distal end. The delivery system also includes a hub assembly rotatably mounted on the slide shaft, the hub assembly having a slider assembly for selectively engaging and disengaging the hub assembly with the threaded outer surface. A sliding grip is rotatably coupled to the proximal end of the hub assembly. The sliding grip includes a first protrusion extending through the first longitudinal slot to prevent rotation of the sliding grip relative to the slide shaft. The sliding grip is configured to slide proximally and distally along the slide shaft corresponding to axial movement of the hub assembly.

[0071] Another embodiment provides a method of delivering a prosthesis to a desired site in the body. The method includes introducing a delivery catheter into a blood vessel of a patient's body, the delivery catheter including a catheter handle and a distal tip located distal to the catheter handle. The distal tip of the delivery catheter is then advanced to the desired site within the body. The hub assembly of the catheter handle is then engaged to the threaded outer surface of the handle spool. Wherein, the sliding shaft extends between the distal housing of the handle and the proximal housing of the handle, and the hub assembly is coupled to the sheath accommodating the prosthesis. Rotation of the hub assembly causes axial movement of the hub assembly corresponding to axial movement of a sliding gripper coupled to the hub assembly relative to a pushrod attached to the catheter handle, wherein the axial movement of the hub assembly causes The sheath moves correspondingly i...

Abstract

A delivery system (100) having an improved handle (112) allowing operation of the delivery system with one hand while maintaining accuracy in delivery and deployment of a prosthesis in a body lumen. The delivery system includes a sheath (101) and a handle (112). The handle includes a slide shaft (108) having a threaded outer surface (116); a hub assembly (104) coupled to the sheath, and a sliding grip (105). The hub assembly includes an inner slider (502) having a thread tooth pivot support (502A), a thread tooth (504A) pivotably mounted to the thread tooth pivot support and a sleeve (432) having a thread tooth press member (534A) pressing on the thread tooth. Motion of the sleeve relative to the inner slider pivots the thread tooth on the thread tooth pivot support to engage and disengage the hub assembly with the threaded outer surface. The sliding grip is rotatably coupled to a proximal end of the hub assembly, and the sliding grip is prevented from rotating to provide a stable grip to allow operation of the catheter with one hand.

Description

[0001] Cross-references to related applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to US Provisional Application No. 61 / 334,839, filed May 14, 2010, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to devices and methods for delivering a prosthesis to a desired location in the body, and methods for achieving the delivery and implantation of the prosthesis. In particular, the present invention relates to delivery systems for deploying prostheses within body cavities, and also to methods of delivering prostheses to desired sites within the body. The delivery system includes a handle that can be manipulated with one hand while maintaining precision when deploying the prosthesis within the body cavity. Background technique [0004] Hemangiomas are the result of abnormal dilation of blood vessels, usually caused by disease and / or genetic predisposition, which weakens and dilates the arterial ...
