Abstract

The invention provides an internal combustion engine which has a detector on a cylinder cover installed with a solenoid actuator and is capable of preventing the influence of the electromagnetic wave of the solenoid actuator on the detector without using other shielding structures. The internal combustion engine comprises a solenoid actuator(45) which is arranged on a polygonal peripheral wall (51) formed by a plurality of side walls (51L, 51R, 51B, 51FL, 51FR) of a cylinder cover (4) made of non-magnetic materials; and a detector (82) for inspecting the running condition of the internal combustion engine(1), wherein the detector (82) is arranged on a sidewall (51FR) different from the sidewall (51R) where the solenoid actuator(45) is arranged.
