Abstract

Waveguide junction circulators and isolators have a transformer with a rectangular shape which is not symmetrical to the three ports in the junction. The transformer is easily machined as a part of the single-piece housing of the waveguide junction circulator or isolator. This reduces the material cost and the manufacturing cost of the waveguide junction circulators and isolators.

Background technique [0002] A typical waveguide junction circulator or isolator has a metal structure containing three coplanar waveguides that intersect at the center of the structure forming the waveguide junction. A ferrite rod or triangular prism is mounted at the center of the waveguide junction on top of the transformer and is subjected to a transverse magnetic bias field generated by two permanent magnets.
