Abstract

Methods and apparatus for uplink MIMO transmission in a wireless communication system are provided. In particular, the scheduled uplink transmission power is allocated between the primary stream (610) comprising E-DPDCH (624) and the secondary stream (612) comprising S-E-DPDCH (620). Specifically, the ratio between the power of E-DPDCH (624) and the power of the primary pilot channel (622) DPCCH, and the power of S-E-DPDCH (620) and the unboosted power of S-DPCCH (618) The ratios between the powers (702), each corresponding to a first traffic to pilot power ratio (704). Furthermore, the transport block size of the primary transport block provided on the E-DPDCH (624) is determined based on the first traffic-to-pilot power ratio and the transport block size on the S-E-DPDCH is determined based on the second traffic-to-pilot power ratio.
