Abstract

Provided is a method and a device for object positioning and tracking, and a method and a device for determining an optimal camera pair. In the method for object positioning, positioning is carried out for objects in a preset space by a plurality of cameras specially arranged for the preset space. The method for object positioning includes that: rough positioning is carried out for an object; a first optimal camera pair is retrieved in an optimal camera pair look-up table as a chosen camera pair according to positions obtained by rough positioning, wherein position information in the preset space and corresponding optimal camera pair of the plurality of camera pairs are stored in relevance in the optimal camera pair look-up table, indicating that, for the position corresponding to the position information, the positioning accuracy of the optimal camera pair is better than the positioning accuracy of any other camera pairs in the plurality of camera pairs; and fine positioning is carried out for the object by utilizing the chosen camera pair. According to the method and the device for object positioning and tracking, and the method and the device for determining an optimal camera pair, the positions and directions of the plurality of cameras can be arranged at will, and object positioning and/or tracking is achieved rapidly and accurately.
