Abstract

A flange is arranged on the end surface far away from the pump body of the pump cover. The gear-type engine oil pump additionally comprises a hood. The hood is fastened on the flange. The hood and the flange form a cavity which is used for containing the drive gear. A first notch which is used for the chain of the drive gear to penetrate is arranged on the flange. A second notch which is used for containing the hub of the drive gear is arranged on the hood. Since the cavity can isolate the drive gear from engine oil in an oil pan, the situation that the drive gear collides and rubs with the engine oil in the oil pan is avoided to a very great extent, the normal operation of an engine is guaranteed and the service life of the engine is prolonged.
