Problems solved by technology

Thus, the "adjustability" achievable with the Wagner fusion device depends at most on the surgeon's clinical experience in obtaining an "adjusted" height between the meshing plates, which may or may not be favorable to that particular patient
In fact, one or more methods for reliably selecting the correct spinal position at the time of surgery on a case-by-case basis are currently not available

Embodiment Construction

[0061] The present disclosure is directed to spinal disc implants for spinal procedures such as cervical, thoracic and / or lumbar procedures. The disclosed spinal disc implants advantageously stabilize the spine and address related spinal issues. The disclosed disc implant stimulates fusion with adjacent vertebral bodies and assists in securing the disc implant in a physiological position over time based on the design and operation of the disclosed disc implant. Thus, in exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the disc implant may be used for insertion into one or more lumbar, thoracic and / or cervical spinal regions.

[0062] 1. Disc Implants

[0063] Exemplary disc implants according to the present disclosure are adapted for clinical insertion between vertebral bodies. The implant generally includes two elements that are coupled together to form a disc implant. When viewed as placed in a standing individual, the top and bottom surfaces of the implant are referred t...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to the field of spine disc implants. Exemplary embodiments of the disclosed spinal disc implants advantageously and ultimately provide fusion with the body of the vertebra and stabilization of the spine in an anatomically correct 5 position, e.g., in cervical, thoracic and / or lumbar regions. More particularly, the present disclosure is directed to a disc implant that addresses and overcomes the shortcomings of the prior implants by providing first and second inter-vertebral elements that are movably coupled relative to each other and are adapted to permit bone in-growth over time.

Description

[0001] background [0002] 1. Cross-references to related applications [0003] This application claims to be filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on March 11, 2011 and is assigned Serial No. 61 / 451,840 entitled "Spinal Implant, Instrument for Preparation and Method of Use" Method of Use)'' co-pending provisional patent application. The entire contents of the aforementioned Provisional Patent Application are hereby incorporated by reference. 2. Technical fields [0004] The present disclosure relates to the field of disc implants, ie disc implants suitable for the entire spine. Exemplary embodiments of the disclosed disc implant advantageously and ultimately allow fusion with the vertebral body and stabilization of the spine (eg, cervical, thoracic, and / or lumbar spinal regions) in an anatomically correct position. More specifically, the present disclosure is directed to a disc implant that provides first and second intervertebral elements that are movably couple...
