Abstract

A ship propeller is provided with a paddle wheel and nozzles which are integrated by the aid of a fairing and is mounted below the ship waterline. The ship propeller comprises a short shaft or long shaft, a telescopic shaft, the fairing, split bearing blocks, a fixed nozzle, a movable nozzle, clutches and a driving mechanism. The fairing is mounted on the upper half side of the paddle wheel, slotted holes are uniformly distributed on the circumference of the paddle wheel, and the nozzles are mounted on the paddle wheel. After entering the nozzles through the slotted holes on the fairing to turn around, a driven flow is jet from the opposite running direction of the ship to form a thrust; propelling power of the ship jets water directly padded by the lower half side of the paddle wheel and the flow driven by the upper half side of the paddle wheel. Principle and structure of the ship propeller are feasible according to test of a prototype model.
