When multi-path management software needs to be upgraded, an application server continues to utilize a first PMD to process a first data access request received before upgrade; a second PMD is acquired; the second PMD is registered, and then the application server forwards a second data access request received in the follow-up process to the second PMD through an MFD; the second PMD is utilized to receive the second data access request sent by the MFD and process the second data access request; when the first data access request is processed, the first PMD is unloaded. Consequently, under the condition that processing of the data access requests is not interrupted, it can be guaranteed that the multi-path management software is upgraded.
