Abstract

The method includes firstly, producing special cold iron, and designing and manufacturing the shape of the cold iron according to features of casting pore structures; secondly, configuring nitro wood varnish, and using proper amount of banana oil to dilute; thirdly, using a brush or felt cloth to coat the configured varnish onto the cold iron before core setting, spreading dry sands and drying for 10 to 15 minutes naturally to allow the dry sands to be adhesive to the cold iron before the varnish is dry; fourthly, placing the cold iron into a sand die; and fifthly, casting. The method has the advantages that aluminum alloy casting pore defects can be reduced effectively, and scrap rate is decreased.
