Abstract

The present invention relates to systems and methods for adapting properties of application layer protocols using sensed indications. Disclosed are systems and methods for optimizing resource utilization for data transfer in a constrained sensor gateway. Constrained sensor gateways can be constrained in terms of the bandwidth and energy available to communicate data. According to the present disclosure, the network condition detection module is configured to detect a network condition of the constrained sensor gateway. Additionally, the adaptation module is configured to determine a reliability score. Furthermore, according to the present disclosure, the application layer protocol of the constrained sensor gateway adapts the reliability level based on the reliability score determined by the adaptation module. Adaptation of reliability levels by application layer protocols may enable optimization of resources in constrained sensor gateways. The reliability level may relate to a reliable communication mode or an unreliable communication mode for transferring data.
