Problems solved by technology

This two-handed opening is cumbersome and time-consuming for the technician as it requires the technician to have both hands free in order to open the package
Additionally, the traditional two-knuckle roll-and-peel technique required to open conventional blister packs often compromises sterility
Package can tear or break if opened in the wrong orientation or hastily

Embodiment Construction

[0029] Before describing several exemplary embodiments of the invention, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the details of construction or process steps set forth in the following description. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced or carried out in various ways.

[0030] Regarding terms used in this disclosure, the following definitions are provided.

[0031] As used herein, the use of "a," "an," and "the" includes both the singular and the plural.

[0032] Reference to "syringes" includes those syringes indicated for use with needles, nozzles, tubing, or in irrigation systems. The term "syringe" as used herein refers to a simple pump-like device comprising a plunger rod that fits snugly within a barrel or tube. The plunger rod can be pulled or pushed along the inside of the barrel, allowing the syringe to draw in or expel liquid or gas through an opening at the open end of the barrel. The open end of the syringe can c...

Abstract

The present invention describes a packaging assembly including a syringe, and a blister pack. The blister pack includes elements that allow opening with one hand. This result is achieved by the flange area sealing area width, which is significantly reduced in packaging syringes adjacent to the flange area compared to the distal area sealing area width. This enables the syringe to be squeezed out of the package with one hand, so that when the syringe is removed from the blister pack, the flange region and the proximal region leave the package before the distal region. The invention also describes a method of removing a syringe from a package using only one hand.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to packaging assemblies, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a packaging assembly containing a syringe wherein the syringe can be removed from the packaging assembly using only one hand. Background technique [0002] Encapsulation of clean or sterile items particularly useful for medical use in order to maintain their sterility. Packaging for these items is used to provide a barrier to prevent microorganisms from entering the interior of the packaging and contaminating its contents. In most cases, the packaging (such as with a blister pack containing a syringe) is not opened just before the item is used, thereby minimizing the period of time the item is exposed to sterile conditions. [0003] Traditionally, syringes are arranged loosely in conventional blister packs in order to prevent contamination. The blister pack provides an enclosure that is sealed against the ingress of contaminants and prevents...
