Abstract

The invention discloses a detection system for detecting the existence of a moving object and the direction of the moving object passing through a doorway. The system consists of magnets placed in doorways, a communication device (usually a smartphone) and a server. Magnets are positioned in the doorway and are designed to create a magnetic field across the doorway. When an object carrying a smartphone passes through a doorway, the magnetometer in the smartphone senses the perturbation caused by the magnetic field and generates a signal corresponding to the induced perturbation, which is processed by the smartphone's processor to detect the presence of the object and the direction of the object through the doorway. The data generated by the processor and the unique identification associated with the smartphone are sent to a remote server.
