Problems solved by technology

In fact, reducing the stock below the optimum level will cause the yarn tension to increase too much, resulting in defects in the finished product
Contrary to this, stock growth beyond the optimum level will cause yarn to accumulate at the delivery end of the drum, while loops of yarn overlap unevenly during feeding and thus produce anomalies

Embodiment Construction

[0030] Referring to the above-mentioned drawings, the yarn storage feeder 10 includes a yarn winding drum 12 having a plurality of yarn coils Y wound thereon, these yarn coils Y forming a storage material S and adapted to Unwinds upon request from a general downstream machine (not shown). As the yarn is unwound from drum 12, said drum is rotated by motor 14, so that new yarn is pulled from a spool (not shown) and wound on itself in a new turn.

[0031] like figure 1 As shown, the motor 14 is accommodated in the motor housing 16 of the feeder 10, and the motor includes an annular stator 18 and a rotor 20, the annular stator is fixed in the motor housing 16, and the rotor is inserted into the annular stator 18 and fitted to the drive shaft 22. The drive shaft 22 is supported inside the motor housing 16 by a pair of rolling bearings 24, 26, and protrudes to the outside of the motor housing 16 from a protruding portion 22a to which the drum 12 is coupled.

Abstract

A yarn feeder is provided with a motorized, yarn-winding rotary drum (12) which is rotatable with respect to a motor-housing (16) and is adapted to have a plurality of yarn loops (Y) wound on itself, which are adapted to be unwound upon request from a downstream machine. A sensor comprises light-emitting means (42) and light-receving means (44), at least one of which is to be fixed to the rotary drum (12), which operatively define a light connection passing through a detection area (30c) of the rotary drum (12) which is adapted to be repeatedly engaged by the yarn during its rotational unwinding movement. The unwinding of yarn from the rotary drum is determined on the basis of the variation of light resulting from the yarn (Y) transiting on the detection area (30c).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a yarn unwind sensor for a yarn storage feeder with a drum. Background technique [0002] It is known that during the weaving process yarn can be fed to textile machines such as circular knitting machines by means of a plurality of so-called "storage" yarn feeders. A storage feeder is usually provided with a drum having a plurality of yarn coils wound thereon adapted to unwind the yarn coils when required by downstream equipment. As the yarn is unwound from the drum, the yarn can be reloaded by means of a motorized swivel arm which rotates about an axis coaxial with the axis of the drum, or in the case of the feeder considered here , by driving the drum in rotation to reload the yarn, the drum in this case must be motorized. [0003] As is well known to those skilled in the art, it is very important to keep the amount of yarn stored on the drum substantially constant at an optimum level in order to stabilize the tension of th...
