Problems solved by technology

[0004] Many ultrasound imaging devices and systems have been proposed, and in many designs there is the problem that each frame of the image acquired by the ultrasound device is properly aligned with each other
But this creates defects in the acoustic window which can cause intolerable problems for clear imaging and / or therapeutic applications

Abstract

Among other things, there is disclosed structure and methods for registering images obtained through internal (e.g. intravascular) ultrasound devices. Embodiments of a device with a rotating ultrasound beam is provided, with a wall of the device being anisotropic in ultrasound passage. As examples, a cable opaque to ultrasound is attached along the wall of the device, so that the ultrasound beam at the location of the cable is blocked, reflected or scattered. As another example, a thin film of metallic material is placed on or in the wall to allow a portion of the beam to be blocked or attenuated. The imaging system recognizes the changes to the signals made by the anisotropic wall, and registers successive images according to those changes.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Application No. 61 / 713,142, filed October 12, 2012, which is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to an ultrasound device for use in the body and for solving problems present in rotary mechanical scanning ultrasound devices. Background technique [0004] Many ultrasound imaging devices and systems have been proposed, and in many designs there is the problem that each frame of the image obtained by the ultrasound device is properly aligned with each other. In the absence of these registrations, changes in the mechanical movement of the ultrasound transducer or inadvertent or purposeful movement of the device will likely be ineffective for the images observed by the physician, resulting in An undesirable change in the orientation or content of an image. [0005] For example, devices have been proposed in which an ...
