Embodiment Construction

[0026] In comparative experiments, storage and transport of lactide granules in containers not according to the invention (implemented as boxes) and storage and transport of lactide granules in containers according to the invention (implemented as sacks) were investigated. For this, bag-in-bag boxes (capacity 600 kg) with a polyethylene liner (with oxygen and moisture barrier) were filled with lactide flakes (PURALACT L). Big bags (capacity 600 kg) with polyethylene liner (with oxygen barrier and moisture barrier) were filled with approximately 70 vol. % lactide flakes (PURALACT L). Both vessels were flushed with a stream of nitrogen before filling. After the operation of filling the lactide, both containers were sealed and then stored at a temperature of 40° C. for 30 days. Before and after the storage period, the lactide was tested for moisture content and acidity.

Abstract

A method for storage and / or transport of solid lactide particles in a container, includes the steps of a) inserting the lactide particles into the container, b) storing and / or transporting the lactide particles for a period of time in the container, and c) removing the lactide particles from the container. The lactide particles are contained in a big-bag having at least one flexible layer of a plastic material. Storage and / or transport of lactide particles in such big-bag has the advantage that big-bags allow mechanical handling in case of chunks formed by the lactide particles.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method of storing and / or transporting solid lactide particles in a container, said method comprising the steps of: a) inserting said lactide particles into said container; b) inserting said lactide particles into said container; storing and / or transporting the lactide particles in the container for a period of time; and c) removing the lactide particles from the container. The invention also relates to the use of an optimized container for storing and / or transporting lactide granules. Background technique [0002] A method of the kind described in the opening part is known, for example, from patent publication US8203008 issued in the name of the applicant. More particularly, this document describes lactide particles having a surface / volume ratio which are sufficiently stable for storage and transport at room temperature and which are of sufficient quality to be used in the production of polylactide (PLA) or lactide-c...
