The invention discloses an outer edge type disk grabbing device. The outer edge type disk grabbing device comprises a supporting plate, a clamping mechanism and a tray mechanism. The clamping mechanism and the tray mechanism are arranged on the supporting plate. The clamping mechanism comprises at least three grabbing arms which are used for clamping or releasing target optical disks located below the disk grabbing device from the outer side. The tray mechanism comprises at least three tray arms. Protruding structures are arranged at the lower ends of the tray arms. The tray arms are used for supporting or releasing the optical disks located below the disk grabbing device from the outer side. The lower ends of the tray arms are lower than the lower ends of the clamping arms. The invention further discloses a method for loading the optical disks through the disk grabbing device.
