Abstract

The present invention relates to transponders for automatic positioning of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). A TPMS automatic positioning system and associated method for on-demand tire parameter acquisition includes a central unit configured to receive and transmit radio frequency (RF) signals and a tire module associated with the tire. The tire module is configured to measure and transmit one or more tire parameters to the central unit based on the received low frequency (LF) commands. A transponder module is associated with the tire module and is configured to receive the RF signal from the central unit and convert the RF signal into LF commands to be transmitted to the tire module.
