Embodiment Construction

[0010] The present invention relates to a multi-point lubrication subsystem for a pump of a two-component injection system, such as a combined paint-catalyst injector. A single lubricant reservoir is connected to multiple pump seals via gravity feed lines.

[0011] figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a spraying system 10, a dual sided spraying system with sides A and B configured to carry separate fluid components that combine only when sprayed. For example, injection system 10 may combine A-side paint with B-side catalyst (eg, polyurethane, acrylic, polyester, or epoxy) at the time of injection. Although spraying system 10 will be discussed below primarily as a system for spraying paint, the invention may be similarly applied to sprayers for foam, adhesives, and other materials. Many components of injection system 10 exist in parallel on side A and side B of the system. For clarity, side A components are identified with an "a" suffix and side B components are identified wit...

Abstract

An injection system having a pump including a double-acting reciprocating plunger balanced to receive equal upstroke and downstroke assistance from a pre-pressurization source. The reciprocating plunger has the same working surface area on opposing first and second axial surfaces. The pumping system has a double acting reciprocating plunger including an upward facing spacer and a downward facing spacer. The plunger travels axially in a dosing cylinder having a first inlet port and a first outlet port at a first axial end, and a second inlet port and a first outlet port at an opposite second axial end. Second egress port. When the plunger is in its uppermost position, the upwardly facing plunger closes the first inlet port and the first outlet port without blocking flow. When the plunger is in its bottommost position, the downwardly facing plunger closes the second inlet port and the second outlet port without blocking flow.

Description

Background technique [0001] The present invention relates generally to applicator systems for spraying fluids, such as paints, sealants, coatings, and the like. More specifically, the present invention relates to the dosing cylinder of the pumping subsystem of the injection system. [0002] Some fluid applicators have separate "A-side" and "B-side" fluid systems (eg, pumps, reservoirs, and fluid lines) that carry different fluid components. The components are isolated until sprayed or otherwise applied, and then the components mix and chemically interact with each other to form the applied material. Two-component fluid jetting systems are commonly used to apply epoxies, foams and two-component paints. A paint system, for example, can combine an A-side paint with a B-side catalyst material. Common catalyst materials include isocyanates, polyesters, epoxies and acrylics. Different coatings or other A-side materials may require different B-side catalysts. [0003] A-side and...
