Problems solved by technology

There is also difficulty obtaining fine and long incisions (eg, lymphoid incisions) consistently and uniformly
[0010] Certain roll-on appliqués can be useful in very basic applications, but they have limitations
The pre-cut centerlines on these roll appliqué strips may make them unsuitable for applications other than the basic "I", "Y" and "X" shapes
Additionally, these strips are limited in width and length and thus may not be suitable for larger applications
Pre-cropped centerlines can also open undesirably and thus cause problems in the application

Embodiment Construction

[0024] figure 1 A user configurable pre-cut kinesiology taping strip 10 is shown. The strip consists of a strip of Kinesio Taping with a highly elastic cloth base to which a pressure sensitive adhesive is applied. One side is the cloth side 30 . On the adhesive side (not shown), a backing paper 100 is applied to prevent the patch from curling and to prevent the adhesive from drying out or becoming fouled prior to use. These strips are both longer and wider than conventional roll-up Kinesio Taping. The cloth is preferably a fabric of natural fibers or synthetic fibers having high longitudinal elasticity. The adhesive is preferably a pressure sensitive non-latex adhesive (eg, polyacrylic adhesive).

[0025] The strap has a first end 30 and a second end 40 . Each end has a preferably scalloped pattern (with protrusions 50 separated by slots 60, such as figure 1 shown). This form of strip can be considered to have end regions 80 , 90 and a central region 70 .

Abstract

A user-configurable precut kinesiology tape strip is provided for application by a user to a patient. Each end of the strip lobed, having troughs between the lobes. The lobes are in pairs opposite each other. The backing paper is marked with grid lines connecting troughs between the lobes. The grid lines allow the user to selectively cut the strip to form it into any of a number of possible configurations prior to removing the backing paper and applying the strip to a patient's body. A method of configuring such strips is also provided.

Description

[0001] This application claims priority to Canadian Application No. 2,817,231 filed May 29, 2013, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety. technical field [0002] The present invention relates to kinesio taping, and more particularly to pre-cut strips of kinesio taping for application to a patient. Background technique [0003] Kinesio Taping is a form of high stretch adhesive support tape that is used as an assist device for weakened musculature. Stretch in the taping allows mild tension to be placed across the supported body part, thereby acting as an accessory muscle. [0004] Kinesio Taping can also be used for pain management in acute situations. Tapes elevate the skin (thereby providing stimulation to fascia and / or muscle tissue), stimulate blood and lymph flow, alter forces on affected joints, affect muscle inhibition and facilitation, and stimulate muscle and skin receptors, such as mechanical Sexual stimulus receptors, nocicep...
