Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a dual piston actuator. The present disclosure also relates to a power transmission component, which may include a friction clutch, a hydraulic cylinder, and an actuator. The actuator may include first and second pistons and an elastic member. When the pressure in the first chamber is less than a predetermined pressure and the second piston translates in a first direction, the elastic member may translate the first piston to provide a volume of fluid at a low pressure to the cylinder. When the pressure is equal to or greater than the predetermined pressure and the second piston translates in the first direction, the elastic member is compressible between the first piston and the second piston to allow relative movement between the pistons. When the pressure in the first chamber is equal to or greater than the predetermined pressure and the second piston translates in the first direction, the second piston supplies a small amount of fluid at high pressure to the oil cylinder.
