The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a real-time rotation angle of the rotary camera, wherein the real-time rotation angle is an angle formed between a current position of the rotary camera and a resetting end position; judging whether the real-time rotation angle is greater than a preset angle threshold or not; if so, performing resetting operation on the rotary camera at a first speed, and when the real-time rotation angle is smaller than the preset angle threshold, stopping the resetting operation on the rotary camera at the first speed, performing resetting operation at a second speed which is lower than the first speed at the same time, and finishing the resetting operation; and otherwise, performing the resetting operation on the rotary camera at the second speed, and finishing the resetting operation. Through adoption of the method, the rotary camera does not need to be reset manually; resetting is performed safely and rapidly; a resetting motor is protected; and the overall service life of the rotary camera is prolonged.
