Abstract

The invention provides a connection disconnecting method and device. The method is applied to a VPN client. The method comprises the steps of setting an overtime timer; obtaining real-time flow corresponding to the VPN client; judging whether the real-time flow is effective based on an average effective flow; if not, keeping statistical time of the overtime timer; if so, keeping or removing the statistical time of the overtime timer by utilizing an effective statistical number; judging whether the statistical time of the overtime timer is beyond a first preset value; and if so, disconnecting the connection between the VPN client and the VPN server. By applying the embodiment, as the VPN client rather than the VPN server judges whether to disconnect the connection between the VPN client and the VPN server, resources of the VPN server are unnecessary to occupy, and the processing efficiency of the VPN server is improved.
