The quick detecting method comprises the following steps of timely acquiring an AC waveform instantaneous voltage value; measuring a real-time voltage waveform period in an analog period measurement function fixed-threshold-value manner; acquiring an integer as the magnitude of a memory through rounding the voltage waveform period, calculating the squared value of the real-time voltage value and circularly storing the squared value of the real-time voltage value into the memory; and calculating the RMS of AC power by means of the square value of the voltage. According to the quick detecting method, a window sliding type analyzing method is utilized; the FPGA board with high-speed sampling capability and high-speed operation capability is utilized; the RMS value of a previous period of the period is operated in real time for every one or a plurality of acquired instantaneous voltage values; the operation time is shorter than 0.1ms; the defects of large error and low real-time performance in existing AC RMS measurement technology are prevented; and furthermore the quick detecting method has high engineering application value.
