Abstract

The present invention provides a positioning method based on edge length residual weighting. The method includes a first step of receiving, by multiple base stations, a signal sent by a mobile station (MS); a second step of grouping all base stations, wherein each group includes M base stations; a third step of extracting, by a positioning master base station, BS coordinates, ranging information and angle measurement information from each group, resolving two virtual edge lengths according to a cosine theorem, and finally calculating a difference between a range and the virtual edge lengths so as to obtain an edge length residual of each group, wherein the ranging information is equivalent to time of arrival (TOA), and angle measurement information is equivalent to angle of arrival (AOA); a fourth step of performing MS position estimation on all base station groups by using TOA and AOA information according to a least square method, wherein position estimation values are called a middle positioning result; a fifth step of calculating a weighted value of each group of BS according to edge length residual; and a sixth step of multiplying the middle positioning result of each group of BS by a corresponding weighted value and performing summation, wherein the result is final MS position estimation. According to the method, errors are reduced effectively, and positioning precision is improved.
